How To Take Care Of Your Naturally Curly Hair

712views

Taking care of naturally curly hair can seem complicated, but it’s actually quite easy if you follow a few simple tips. Here are some ways to take care of your naturally curly hair:

Skip the brush, but reach for a detangling comb:

When you brush your dry curly hair, it instantly frizzes and puffs out. To keep your curls defined, use a detangling comb while your hair is still wet or run your fingers through your hair to detangle it.

Limit washing to around twice a week:

Curly hair thrives on its natural oils and you’ll strip those if you wash your hair every day. This can make your hair dry and frizzy. To give your curls the love they deserve, wait a few days in between each wash.

Choose the right shampoo and conditioner:

Look for a shampoo and conditioner specifically designed for curly hair. In general, look for products that include natural or essential oils like coconut oil, jojoba oil, sunflower oil, and avocado oil; aloe vera; keratin; shea butter; hydrolyzed silk and animal proteins; panthenol and provitamins; and plant extracts.

Try using a pre-shampoo treatment:

If you have very coarse or curly hair, you may want to try using a pre-shampoo treatment. Coarse, curly hair tends to lose moisture very quickly. Using a conditioner before shampooing in theory helps to protect the hair strand so that the shampoo won’t strip the hair of its natural oils.

Avoid over-shampooing:

Shampooing every day isn’t a good idea for people with curly hair. Shampooing can strip the hair of its much-needed natural oils. You may need to experiment with a cleansing schedule to see what works best for you. In general, try shampooing every other day or every 3 days.

Choose the right brush or comb:

Curly hair is often dry and brittle and can break easily when combed or brushed. Try brushing or combing curly hair in the shower to avoid breakage. Start with a wide-tooth comb to break up any knots. You can also comb while the conditioner is still in your hair to make it easier and to ensure the conditioner coats all your strands.

Use a co-washing product instead of shampoo:

If you like to wash your hair more frequently, you can use a co-washing product instead of shampoo. Shampoo removes the natural oils near your scalp, which can lead to dry, brittle hair. Instead, use a co-washing product which is a cleansing conditioner. It won’t strip your hair, so it stays curly and hydrated.

Use hair masks containing natural ingredients
:

Make a mask of olive oil, eggs, vinegar and mayonnaise and apply it on your hair. Rinse with a mild shampoo after 30 minutes. While eggs provide protein to your hair, mayonnaise adds moisture and shine to the dry curls. Avocados are rich in vitamin B, E and good fats

By following these tips, you can keep your naturally curly hair healthy, moisturized, and frizz-free! 😊
